DOVER — The first New Hampshire Community Quilting Party will be held at the The Sewing Tree, 66 Third St., in Dover on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event is sponsored by local Etsy artisans, an online marketplace where artists and crafts persons sell their wares. Their website is www.etsy.com.

The event will be hosted by Janith Bergeron, co-owner of The Sewing Tree and Alix Joyal, owner of Mamaka Mills Custom Quilts in Strafford, and will focus on making quilts to be donated to the pediatric units at Frisbie Memorial and Wentworth-Douglass hospitals. The gifting of these quilts is part of Project Linus, a program that provides children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need, with new handmade blankets, afghans, and quilts.

Recycled Italian shirting fabrics have been donated by Custom Executive Outfitters in Washington, DC. The event is open to the public and no sewing experience is required. Visit their website at http://nhcommunityquilting.com for more information.
